Summer Vocal Programs

Hunterdon Vocal Workshop:  Founded in 2010 by Alejandra Garrido and Steven Snow, Hunterdon Vocal Workshop enters its second season of providing unique training and performance opportunities for serious vocal students age 13 - 19 in central New Jersey. The program runs Monday - Friday, with performance opportunities Friday and Saturday culminating in an evening showcase concert.
This year we're offering 2 sessions: July 25 - 30, 2011 and August 1 - 6, 2011.

The Masterworks Festival:  June 19-July 17, 2011 Winona Lake, IN.  The Vocal Intensive Study Program (VISP) is designed for passionate and motivated students age 18-30 who desire to effectively integrate faith and art, refine their vocal technique, perform new solo and operatic repertoire and prepare for professional auditions.  Early application deadline April 1.

Westminster Choir College Summer Camps:
- Solo Vocal Artist:  July 8 to July 21, 2012.  This program offers the opportunity for the dedicated young classical singer to explore the many facets of developing the singer’s art. The young singers study voice in daily private lessons (five lessons in week one and four in week two) taught by Westminster Artist Faculty members.  High School.

- Vocal Institute:  June 24 - July 7, 2012.  Under the direction of choral conductor and clinician Amanda Quist, the two-week Vocal Institute draws 150 students from across the country and around the world.  High School.

- Music Theater Workshop:  June 24 - July 8, 2012.  The summer High School Music Theater Workshop is for high school performers who are Broadway bound.  High School.

- CoOperative Program:  July 1 - 21, 2012.  A three-week intensive training program for singers, offering individualized instruction and focusing on operatic style, performance technique, dramatic presentation, language and diction, resume and audition preparation, and body awareness.  Collge.

Boston Conservatory Vocal/Choral Intensive - July 8–21, 2012.   Students ages 15 – 18The Boston Conservatory's Vocal/Choral Intensive (VCI) summer voice program focuses on training high-school students who are serious about singing in classical and musical theater styles. The two-week program mirrors The Boston Conservatory's college curriculum and is a great introduction to a conservatory education.   This summer voice program at The Boston Conservatory is designed to strengthen performance skills in a short time. After only two weeks, students leave with improved sight-singing and musical skills, enhanced vocal technique and greater confidence in their abilities as a performer.

Carnegie Mellon Summer Programs for Diversity -  Begins June 25.  Voice majors receive a one-hour private studio lesson (with professional accompanist) and an additional half-hour private vocal coaching session each week through the summer where they work on technique and the preparation and presentation of classical repertoire. Voice majors also take dance, acting and vocal performance classes and perform with the summer Concert Choir and the Summer Opera Workshop.  Deadline April 1.

DePauw University Vocal Arts Camp - June 17-23, 2012. DePauw University faculty members will offer the Vocal Arts Camp for high school students in grades 9 through 12. The Vocal Arts Camp is part of an exciting week at DePauw offering dedicated high school music students an opportunity to explore the many facets of majoring in music at the collegiate level. This workshop provides participants with movement classes, musical theatre staging, theory fundamentals, improvisation sessions, repertoire and deportment, music technology, and stage make-up. Students also participate in a final recital program.

Indiana University College Audition Preparation - July 15-21, 2012.  College Audition Preparation offers intense study with your future college audition panel members...or at least people just like them. You will learn what they think and what they want to hear. We teach you how to walk into a room and make them trip over themselves to invite you to your dream school! Topics include: private study, interview skills, career options, and a mock audition.

Interlochen High School Vocal Soloist Summer Program - June 23, 2012 - August 6, 2012.  This program is open to students who will complete grades 9-12 during the 2010-11 school year.  The vocal soloist studies program addresses the individual training requirements of the young classical solo singer. This program is designed for highly motivated students aspiring to further their training as young artists.

Oberlin Vocal Academy for High School Students - JJuly 13 - 22, 2012. The Oberlin Conservatory of Music is pleased to present the Vocal Academy for High-School Students, a nine-day, intensive workshop that offers dedicated high school voice students age 16 years and older (high school graduates are excluded) an opportunity to explore the many facets involved in developing the singer's art. Technical work will include the development of posture, breathing, phonation, resonance, and articulation.

Tanglewood Young Artists Vocal Program - July 1 – August 12, 2012.  Ages 14-18.  As one of the leading summer institutes for advanced young singers, The Young Artists Vocal Program nurtures and encourages the development of gifted high-school-aged singers geared toward professional studies.  The intensive curriculum provides a conservatory model of training in the components essential for well-educated singers:  vocal technique, musicianship, and performance.

Washington National Opera Institute for Young Singers - June 25 - July 14, 2012.  The Washington National Opera Institute at American University is a summer training program for highly motivated high school singers and accompanists age 15-18. The Opera Institute curriculum focuses on Italian art songs and includes classes in drama, movement, yoga, ear training, sight singing, opera history, and Italian diction. Students participate in master classes, opera scenes, individual vocal coaching, and group and individual lessons. Opera professionals present workshops on relevant topics including auditioning, college and résumé preparation, and vocal health.  The students participate in several performances focused on opera scenes and Italian art songs.
