Doris Lenz Scholarship
for High School Singers

Sponsored by NJNATS
New Jersey Chapter of The National Association of Teachers of Singing

Doris Lenz was a dedicated NJNATS voice teacher, who took special pride and pleasure in teaching high school singers.  In her memory, this scholarship was established to support serious high school students of singing who participate in summer vocal music programs.

Recipients of the 2011 Doris Lenz Scholarship are:

Alexander Alpert, student of Beth Schwartz and Claudette Peterson.  Alex will attend Operafest 2011 on Martha’s Vineyard.

Morgan Griffith, student of Dauri Shippey.  Morgan will attend the International Lyric Academy Summer Program in Viterbo, Italy.

Each student will receive a $300 scholarship to help defray tuition costs.

Congratulations to both students and their teachers!

The committee would like to commend the other applicants this year for making our decision very difficult! Thank you to the following students and teachers for their fine applications and wonderful letters of recommendation:

Hannah Black, student of Jamie Baer Peterson
Katherine Crabill, student of Karen Beardsley
Nicole Gutman, student of Tracy Richards Chebra
